Ottawa (i/ˈɒtəwə/ or /ˈɒtəwɑː/; French pronunciation: [ɔtawa]) is the capital city of Canada. It stands on the south bank of the Ottawa River in the eastern portion of Southern Ontario. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec; the two form the core of the Ottawa–Gatineau census metropolitan area (CMA) and the National Capital Region (NCR). The 2011 census reported a population of 883,391 within the city, making it the fourth-largest city in Canada, and 1,236,324 within the CMA, making it the fourth-largest CMA in Canada. The City of Ottawa has since estimated it had a population of 951,727 in 2014.
Founded in 1826 as Bytown, and incorporated as "Ottawa" in 1855, the city has evolved into a political and technological centre of Canada. Its original boundaries were expanded through numerous minor annexations and were ultimately replaced by a new city incorporation and major amalgamation in 2001 which significantly increased its land area. The city name "Ottawa" was chosen in reference to the Ottawa River nearby, which is a word derived from the Algonquin word Odawa, meaning "to trade".
Downtown Ottawa (French: Centre-Ville d'Ottawa) is the central area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Like other downtowns it is the commercial and economic centre of the city. It is sometimes referred to as the Central Business District and contains Ottawa's financial district. It is bordered by the Ottawa River to the north, the Rideau Canal to the east, Gloucester Street to the south and Bronson Avenue to the west. This area and the residential neighbourhood to the south are also known locally as 'Centretown'. The total population of the area is 4123 (2011 Census).
Downtown Ottawa is dominated by government buildings, including Parliament Hill and the Supreme Court. Most prominent buildings are situated along Wellington, Sparks and Elgin streets. Most of the buildings are office towers containing the various government departments. While most of Ottawa's high tech industry is based elsewhere it also has a significant presence in the downtown core. The downtown also contains a number of apartments, hotels, and condominiums as well as the older single family homes and townhouses along its edges.
Driving most often refers to the controlled operation and movement of a motorized vehicle, such as a car, truck, or bus.
The origin of the term driver, as recorded from the 15th century, refers to the occupation of driving working animals, especially pack horses or draft horses. The verb ' to drive ' in origin means "to force to move, to impel by physical force". It is first recorded of electric railway drivers in 1889 and of a motor-car driver in 1896. Early alternatives were motorneer,motor-man, motor-driver or motorist. French favors "conducteur" (the English equivalent, "conductor", being used —from the 1830s— not of the driver but of the person in charge of passengers and collecting fares), while German influenced areas adopted Fahrer (used of coach-drivers in the 18th century, but shortened about 1900 from the compound Kraftwagenfahrer), and the verbs führen, lenken, steuern —all with a meaning "steer, guide, navigate"— translating to conduire.

Please note: I'm not a professional photographer and I'm not pretending to be one. But, I do know what looks good to me, and how to use the camera somewhat competently :D As explained in the video, the biggest problem (other than not finding any truly dilapidated buildings) was access to take the pictures. Many I had to take from a distance or at an angle that wasn't ideal. In spite of that, I am very happy with what I did get. Some of the pictures have more post processing than others, mainly to highlight what I thought of as the mood. A few of the ones that slideshow at the end of the video were processed differently, and every photo throughout the video was edited in some way. I left on the morning of the 14th, and got to Ottawa on the morning of the 15th. My route more or less fol...

Enjoy a short drive around Ottawa during major snow accumulation from the comfort of your device! Essentially, if you did not have snow tires on your vehicle, you were basically spinning your wheels, as seen in the ending frames of the video. This first major snow storm of winter 2015-2016, which was well forecasted, somehow did not seem to bother some cyclist in downtown Ottawa. As always, I try to select music which is fitting for the video. Hope you enjoy it ! https://www.expedia.com/Ottawa.d178296.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to Ottawa, Ontario, where you’ll find charming old-world buildings surrounded by picturesque natural beauty. The first stop on an Ottawa tour should be the Rideau Canal. This waterway cuts the city in half, and it provides places for boating and paddleboarding during the summer. Visiting in winter? Not a problem—you can go ice skating along the Rideau when it ices over. On the south side of the river, you can see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Parliament Hill. A few blocks to the north is the National Gallery of Canada, a stunning glass-and-granite building full of art from Canadian, European, and other North American artists. You’ll be hungry after all this walking around, so head to ByWard Market. If you...

https://www.expedia.com/Vancouver.d178315.Destination-Travel-Guides Vancouver’s breezes carry the scents of nature and aromas of all the urban delights you’d expect from a city regularly voted, “the Worlds most livable”. The city takes its name from the British navigator who landed here in 1792. The original settlement was called “Gastown”, in honor of Gassy Jack, who built the city’s first tavern. Gassy Jack and his makeshift pub may be long gone, but in the historic neighborhood of Gastown, his spirit lingers on. Vancouver’s early history continues at Waterfront Station, the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway’s construction brought Chinese workers by the thousands, whose descendants have enriched Vancouver ever since. Experience this interweaving of cultu...

2018 isn't off to a great start. 25 minutes of dashcam footage; my longest video to date. It doesn't look like too many people made a New Years resolution to be a better driver! Here is the the Globe and Mail article mentioned in the video: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/is-it-illegal-to-make-a-right-turn-into-the-left-lane/article27292018/
In 2014 I decided to drive accross North America. The exact route can be found here https://goo.gl/maps/8OQ49. There is some commentary along the trip by me, and some pictures from the major events during the trip. The songs being played are songs that were listened to along the way, so every once in a while a song would just "click" with the scenery as I was driving. I wrote it down so when I was editing the video the same song would make it in. The time lapse was taken with a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition, with pictures being taken every 2 seconds. Max resolution, protune on, and white balance to camera RAW. Processed in GoPro Studio and stitched together with after effects and premier. Approximate amount of pictures taken was about 480,000 pictures. This equated to over 2.5 TB of data ...

This is a sped up video of our drive from Toronto to Treasure Island Florida in March 2016. The highways we drove on the 401, I-90, I-79, US-19, I-77, I-26, I-95, I-10 and the I-75. Travelled thru ON, NY, PA, WV, VA, NC, SC, GA and FL. This drive was different from our past ones. We couldn't get out of school and work so we left in the afternoon on the first day instead of early in the morning. So there is quite a bit of night driving in this trip video. We would have taken the I-75 but there had been a rock slide in TN that closed the I-75, so we decided to take our usual route to Florida.

Pass your road test in the winter? Watch the video to learn how! SUBSCRIBE TODAY! ► http://youtube.com/c/smartdrivetest In the winter with snow, the parameters of a road test are somewhat different. For whatever reason, driving examiners don't like pushing a stuck car out o the snow. Therefore, there is some discretion in the parameters of the road test. The 4 basic components of a road test still apply: 1) speed management 2) space management 3) observation 4) communication You must drive the posted speed limit, the speed of the flow of traffic, or the speed that the conditions of the road allow. Watch the speedometer camera in the video to learn how fast you should drive. You must manage speed around your vehicle and stop at the correct place at intersections. Often you will not ...
